About the Department
The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Aesthetics is responsible for teaching and education, and continues research and service in oral and maxillofacial surgery, which includes: tooth extraction, minor jaw surgery (removal of impacted teeth, prosthetic jaw surgery, and treatment of oral and maxillofacial pathological lesions), Major surgery (orthopaedic surgery, craniofacial deformity, accidents and fractures, lipomas, benign and malignant tumors), Restorative surgery and infection control), and dental implants.
The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery on the second floor of the faculty has an outpatient dental clinic where students are taught during the academic year and extractions are performed year-round. Another clinic is located on the sixth floor of the faculty.
The general and sixth floor of the faculty contains an outpatient dental clinic to receive patients for minor and major operations and follow-up cases that visit the department after surgeries. Attached to it is a minor operating room containing three dental units and an operating room consisting of three dental units specializing in dental implant surgeries. The department’s academic activities include teaching and education for undergraduate and postgraduate students pursuing master’s and doctoral degrees. The department also has 3 large operating rooms with complete anaesthesia equipment for surgery

Department Objectives
1– To provide education and training in oral and maxillofacial surgery to produce dental graduates with a high level of expertise in this field. Graduates should be able to seek knowledge, possess innovative and analytical thinking, and demonstrate strong professional ethics and conduct.
- 2-To promote and support research in oral and maxillofacial surgery, and to develop knowledge and its application in teaching, education, and patient care
3-Providing high-quality and efficient oral and maxillofacial surgery services and treatments. Collaborating with other healthcare professionals.
4. 4-Offering educational services to the public to learn about oral and maxillofacial surgery, how to benefit from it, and how to care for oneself and others-
Department Responsibilities
The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is responsible for teaching and learning in this field, as well as conducting research and providing services in oral and maxillofacial surgery, including:
- 1. Tooth extraction
- Minor surgeries such as the removal of impacted teeth, pre-prosthetic surgery, and oral lesions
- 3. Major surgeries such as orthodontic surgery, craniofacial deformity correction, accidents and fractures, lipomas, reconstructive surgery, oral and maxillofacial infections and abscesses, and surgeries to remove benign and malignant tumors.
- Dental implants: The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department has a dental implant surgery room consisting of three dental units
- 5. To provide education and produce dental graduates who meet international standards, are eager to learn, are creative, and possess strong ethical and professional conduct.
- 6. To encourage and support research into international standards to create new knowledge, innovations, and applications.

- To provide oral and maxillofacial surgery services to the largest possible number of patients visiting the department, ensuring the service is of the highest quality
